Key services for mature men

Managing andropause is an important part of maintaining men’s quality of life. Hormonal changes can affect, amongst other things, energy levels, sexual function, mood, sleep, body weight and the condition of muscles and bones. Accurate diagnosis and regular monitoring of these changes enable a better understanding of the processes taking place in the body and help to mitigate their negative effects.

Preventing testicular and prostate cancer is one of the most important aspects of men’s healthcare. Many conditions develop without symptoms, and regular check-ups enable them to be detected before they become a real threat. Early diagnosis significantly improves the effectiveness of treatment and broadens the range of treatment options available. Regular visits to a specialist also help to establish the habit of taking a proactive approach to looking after one’s health.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

  • Andropause is a gradual process associated with a decline in testosterone levels in men. It most commonly occurs between the ages of 40 and 50, although the rate and severity of the changes vary greatly from person to person. Symptoms may include, amongst other things, a loss of energy, reduced libido, low mood, sleep problems and weight gain.

  • Yes – lifestyle plays a significant role. Regular physical activity, a healthy diet, sufficient sleep, stress reduction and avoiding stimulants can have a beneficial effect on hormone balance. Regular health check-ups are also important, as they allow for an early response to any emerging disorders.

  • This depends on the severity of the symptoms and the test results. For some men, monitoring and lifestyle changes are sufficient; for others, further diagnostic tests and treatment by a specialist may be necessary. The decision is always made on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the patient’s overall health.

  • Regular check-ups form the basis of prevention. Diagnostic tests for prostate conditions include, amongst others, a PSA test, a digital rectal examination (DRE) and an ultrasound scan. For the testicles, a physical examination and a testicular ultrasound scan are of key importance. Early detection of abnormalities significantly increases the chances of successful treatment.

  • The most common symptoms include problems with urination, a weak urine stream, frequent urge to urinate (especially at night), a feeling that the bladder has not been completely emptied, and pain in the perineal area. The onset of such symptoms is a clear sign that you should consult a specialist.
