The European Family Centre (EFC) is a multi-purpose, open healthcare complex currently under construction in the very heart of Sopot. It will be a centre for scientific research and development projects, as well as for the development of the latest diagnostic and treatment methods. All this is designed to fulfil the dreams of those who wish to become parents. It is a facility inspired by the principles of holistic medicine, based on the premise that the state of the mind, spirit and body influence one another, and that treatment should address the whole person. This approach is reflected in the diverse functions of the complex, which also aims to set new standards for the treatment of fertility disorders. An integral part of the project is the Research and Development Centre (R&D Centre), equipped with the necessary infrastructure; together with a qualified team of experts, it develops modern treatment methods for EFC patients.
The European Family Centre is a project designed to closely integrate diagnostic, medical and treatment services with rehabilitation and psychological support, alongside research and development activities.
The construction site was deliberately chosen, as it is situated right in the heart of Sopot, a unique seaside resort associated with recreation and relaxation. Blending seamlessly into Sopot’s unique architectural landscape, the first of the five buildings – Building B1, which houses the administration, medical laboratories and the INVICTA Research and Development Centre – is merely a foretaste of the distinctive sequence of the remaining four. The buildings forming this open complex were designed by FAAB Architektura; the designers drew inspiration from the magnificent geometry and energy of the sea waves, as well as a series of photographs by the French artist Pierre Carreau – ‘Aqua Viva’. The entire complex will be connected to Sopot’s Błonia Park and a decorative retention basin, creating an inspiring and engaging space, as well as a walking route conducive to convalescence, not only for patients but also for the residents of Sopot. Green spaces will account for 75 per cent of the entire complex.
An integral part of the complex is the Research and Development Centre, whose remit is to advance scientific knowledge and work towards the implementation of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods in medicine. To this end, state-of-the-art tools utilising machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) technology are employed. The development of the R&D Centre stems from the need to devise modern therapeutic methods, which will subsequently be offered to EFC patients.
The R&D Centre is housed in Building B1, which is already operational at 64 Polna Street in Sopot. As the project progresses, the development will incorporate Building B2 as an outpatient facility featuring specialist consultation rooms, a diagnostic imaging centre, a hospital ward and a pharmacy. The subsequent buildings, B4 and B5, serve as an endocrinology and metabolism rehabilitation zone with inpatient facilities, providing integrated care for patients undergoing diagnosis and treatment of lifestyle-related diseases, in particular fertility disorders.
